WRITING BETHLEHEM'S FIRST CHRISTMAS

Updated: Sep 24, 2023

Where did the inspiration come from?

Greetings, dear readers! It's been quite the journey, hasn't it? As a first-time children's author and blogger, I'm thrilled to unveil the story behind my endeavor, the heartwarming Christmas book, "Bethlehem's First Christmas." Let's step back in time to a cold, starry Christmas Eve almost a decade ago. I was pregnant with my first child, and there was a palpable sense of wonder and anticipation in the air. The twinkling lights, the familiar carols, and the joyous gatherings with loved ones created a unique atmosphere of warmth and hope. It was during this magical night that inspiration struck me like a bolt of lightning; I began to wonder who helped Mary. Did she have a midwife? I found myself reflecting on the true meaning of Christmas, not just as a Christian holiday but as a celebration of love, faith, and the precious gift of life and gifts God has already given us and the patience God has with us as we find them. in Bethlehem long ago, this midwife must have existed, however their story would not be given much thought due to the grandeur of the Nativity and Christ's coming. But a story began to take shape in my mind.

“As I mulled over who this character might be and her unique perspective, the concept for "Bethlehem's First Christmas" started to crystallize. I wanted to tell her story—a story of faith, compassion, and the profound impact of being part of something far greater than oneself.”

As I mulled over who this character might be and her unique perspective, the concept for "Bethlehem's First Christmas" started to crystallize. I wanted to tell her story—a story of faith, compassion, and the profound impact of being part of something far greater than oneself. I envisioned a narrative that would resonate with readers of all ages and backgrounds, reminding them of the true essence of Christmas. The moral of the book, to appreciate the gifts that God has given at Christmas, emerged organically from the story itself. Through Esther's point of view, readers would witness the power of simple acts of kindness, the beauty of unexpected blessings, and the transformative nature of faith. I wanted to convey the idea that Christmas is not just about the presents under the tree but about the presence of love, hope, and the divine in our lives. As I embarked on the journey of writing "Bethlehem's First Christmas," I found myself deeply immersed in research, seeking to capture the historical and cultural context of Bethlehem at the time of Jesus' birth. I delved into the emotions, hopes, and fears of Esther, aiming to create a character that readers could empathize with and admire. This book, born from a moment of inspiration on that sacred Christmas Eve, is a labor of love and faith. It's a tribute to the wonder of motherhood, the miracle of Christmas, and the enduring power of belief. My hope is that "Bethlehem's First Christmas" will touch your hearts, inspire your spirits, and remind you of the profound gifts that God bestows upon us during this cherished season. So, dear readers, as you embark on this literary journey with me, I invite you to embrace the true meaning of Christmas—to appreciate the gifts that God has given us that shine brightly in our lives, just as they did on that starry night in Bethlehem so long ago. May your hearts be filled with warmth, your homes with love, and your spirits with the joy of "Bethlehem's First Christmas." Thank you for joining me on this incredible adventure, and may this holiday season bring you all the blessings your heart desires.
